DNA testing technologies have seen great advancements over the course of history. The demand has risen even more exponentially over the past decade due to increased awareness and popularity in cases like parental confirmation. Common examples include paternity, maternity, siblingship, grandparentage etc. Of these the most commonly used ones are Paternity DNA Testing.
Parental testing, including Paternity DNA Tests have now become more affordable, making them a viable choice for dispute resolution and peace of mind.
So, how do I get a paternity DNA test? Can it help me in a legal matter? Most importantly, where to get it?
If you have been troubled by these questions lately, don’t worry! We are here to help. In this blog, we are covering different aspects of paternity testing and other key aspects, before explaining what makes us the best for paternity DNA testing in India.
Let’s start.
How Does Paternity DNA Testing Work?
Paternity DNA testing is a scientific method used to determine the biological relationship between a child and an alleged father. Every human inherits half of their DNA from their mother and the other half from their father. A DNA test compares the DNA profiles of the child and the alleged father to check for a biological match.
A simple cheek swab is used to do this. It collects DNA-containing epithelial cells from the mouth. Later, these cells are collected, and DNA is extracted from them and analysed. In paternity testing, the child’s and the potential father’s cheek swab samples are collected and subjected to the same process as mentioned above.
The method used to do the DNA analysis for paternity and other relationships is called STR profiling.
How Much Does a DNA Paternity Test Cost?
The cost of paternity DNA testing can vary depending on the type and method of testing. Consider a peace of mind test, where a total of two, that is, a child’s and the alleged father’s, samples are tested. This configuration costs you around 14,000 INR.
If you want to get your results quicker, you can also choose our Express DNA Testing Services:
- Next Day Reporting
- Same-Day Reporting
These tests cost you extra, however, provide you the best value for your money by expediting the whole process and meeting your urgent requirements.
Legal DNA tests also cost you a little extra due to added formalities and complexities in the testing, documentation, and reporting processes.
Prices also vary if you’re including more than two parties. For example, while a regular paternity test costs you 14,000 INR, a Paternity Trio Test can cost you around 21,000 INR. In a paternity trio test, the mother also participates in the testing for an added degree of accuracy.
How Accurate Is Home DNA Paternity Testing?
Many people wonder if at-home tests are reliable. The answer is yes—if you take your test from a reputable and trusted company like DDC Laboratories India. The only difference between getting a DNA test at a lab and getting it at home is the sampling process. However, in both cases, the accuracy of the report remains the same.
There are two ways you can get an At-Home Paternity DNA Test:
Home collection by our sample collection agent and
Self-collection using our DNA Testing Kit

When Can You Get a DNA Test Done While Pregnant, and Is It Safe?
Generally, getting a Prenatal Paternity DNA Test (No Sex Determination) is recommended after around 9 weeks of pregnancy.
Getting Paternity DNA Testing while pregnant is completely safe for the baby in the womb and the mother as well. Unlike a regular paternity test, in the case of prenatal testing, the baby is not yet born. However, it is no more a barrier in obtaining the baby’s DNA sample. For the baby’s DNA, the mother’s venous blood is withdrawn into an EDTA tube.
From this blood, the free-floating, cell-free fetal DNA (DNA of the baby in the womb) is collected, and it serves as the baby’s DNA sample.
On the other hand, the alleged father can give his buccal swab or even a blood sample. Being non-invasive in nature, Prenatal Paternity Testing is safe and accurate at the same time.
Disclaimer: Prenatal paternity testing does not involve sex determination of the fetus. We highly discourage this practice. Doing so is a punishable offense and inhumane.
Why Choose a Confidential Paternity DNA Test?
A confidential paternity DNA test is ideal if you want privacy and discretion. Many people use it to clear doubts without involving legal or medical systems. These tests are mailed discreetly and can be done in the comfort of your own home.
They also provide peace of mind without judgment or pressure. Whether you’re a father wanting to confirm paternity or a mother seeking clarity, confidential testing puts you in control.
For people in sensitive situations, confidentiality is key. At-home test kits make paternity DNA testing less stressful while still being dependable. They’re also useful for adoption reunions, immigration cases, or child support issues (if legally admissible versions are chosen).
